The first DC Studios project is now in production, co-chairman and chief executive officer James Gunn confirmed via his social media account.
Gunn also dismissed insinuations that the project is being fast-tracked since this confirmation comes only 19 days after his announcement of the ten DC Studios projects for the soft-reboot of the DC Extended Universe.
“Not that fast-tracked really since this and Superman: Legacy were both in development before we took over as DCU Studios chiefs,” Gunn posted on Sunday, referencing Peter Safran as his co-chief. Superman: Legacy is another live action movie that they will be releasing.
Last Jan. 31, James Gunns said that “Creature Commandos” is an animated television show and that he has written the entire series.
He also said that they will be tying games, live action TV shows and live action movies to the animated shows and films.
“We’re going to cast actors that are going to be able to play the characters in this, as well as in other things, some of which we’ve already cast. I’ve written all seven episodes of this show and it’s in production now,” he said about “Creature Commandos.”
In a DC Blog, Gunn also said that one of the characters in “Creature Commandos” will show up in “Waller,” a live action HBO series. Viola Davis will reprise her role as the titular character who has also appeared in films like “Suicide Squad,” “The Suicide Squad,” “Black Adam,” and the television show “Peacemaker.”
Gunn has not confirmed or given hints yet on which character from “Creature Commandos” will appear on both shows, but there’s a high chance that it might be Weasel because the character has shared screen with Waller in 2021’s “The Suicide Squad.”
“Creature Commandos” will air on HBO Max and HBO GO in Asia.
