“Creature Commandos,” the first title in the new DC Universe, has received an early renewal over at Max.
The series is only four episodes into the first season when the renewal was announced by Max early Tuesday (Philippine time). Its season finale will air on Jan. 10, 2025.
The show is about a secret team recruited for missions deemed too dangerous for humans. Amanda Waller’s (voiced by Viola Davis) black ops unit Task Force X has been shut down following the events in the HBO show “Peacemaker,” thus, the team composed of Rick Flag Sr. (voiced by Frank Grillo), Nina Mazursky (voice by Zoe Chao), Batman villain Doctor Phosphorus (voiced by Alan Tudyk), lead character Bride of Frankenstein (voiced by Indira Varma), G.I. Robot, and Weasel (both voiced by Sean Gunn) were sent to Pokolistan, where they faced the sorceress Circe (voiced by Anya Chalotra).
In the next episode, Eric Frankenstein, who is in love with The Bride, is expected to join them.
In the previous episode, titled “Chasing Squirrels,” writer and executive producer James Gunn told the heart-breaking origin story of Weasel. As of this writing, the episode has 8.7 ratings on IMDB—the highest rating for the show so far.
“We’re thrilled to team up with Max for another season of Creature Commandos mayhem. From our spectacular first season of ‘Peacemaker’ to the astonishing run of ‘The Penguin’ to the record-breaking launch of ‘Creature Commandos,’ Max has consistently delivered above industry expectations and beyond our wildest imaginings,” Gunn and Peter Safran, co-chairs of DC Studios, said in a joint statement.
