Requirements

  • Pre-Internship Requirements
    • Official Enrollment / Certificate of Enrollment – Jan. 12, 2024
    • Attend Internship Orientation – Jan. 15, 2024
    • Attend Preparedness Seminar – Jan. 15, 2024
    • Field of Interest Form (Google Forms) – Form to be provided
    • Copy of CV with 2 x 2 photo – can be prepared by the student-intern now
    • Application letter submitted to company – must be prepared by the student-intern as early as possible
    • Medical clearance – will be scheduled by block; please wait for instructions
    • JURAT – to be signed as early as possible
    • Parent’s / Guardian’s Waiver – will be signed during the Internship Orientation / Preparedness Seminar
    • Memorandum of Agreement – some companies already have MOA with BU; in case the company the student-intern wants to apply to does not have a MOA with BU yet, please inform your professor
    • Travel Order – will be prepared by block; please wait for instructions
    • Received Copy of Letter of Invitation to Parents
  • Internship Requirements
    • Daily Time Record (DTR) – DTR form to be used is preferably the company’s, but if they do not have one, please ask for a generic DTR from your professor
    • Daily Log – although you will need to do this daily, submission will be weekly (every Friday 4:30 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.)
    • Attendance to Zoom Meetings – monthly meetings will be conducted to remind you of your requirements, MOA signatures, and other matters
    • Work Designation Form – to be submitted as early as possile
  • Post-Internship Requirements

Process of Acquiring Endorsement

Starting next week, I will be giving the endorsement letters to the company where you wish to have your internship. Here’s the process of acquiring endorsement letters. Please keep these steps in mind so that we’re all on the same page.

  1. Get the following details from your target host training entity or HTE:
    • Person to address the endorsement letter to
    • His/her title or position in the office
    • Name of office
    • Address of the office
    • Email address (if you can’t hand this endorsement letter in person)
  2. Send these details to me via this Request Letter link and wait for me to respond to your request via email.
  3. Only one person from an HTE has to do this. If there are five of you who will be undergoing internship at the same office, you don’t have to send a separate request letter. Please include the names of the other applicants in the “Your Message” text area.
  4. You will not be able to request another endorsement letter unless I know that you have had informed the previous HTE that you will not be pursuing an internship with them.
  5. In case you need another endorsement letter, please use the same link about, but this time, under the “Upload Letter Template,” attach a proof that your previous HTE has been informed.

Please do not send letter requests before 5 p.m., Jan. 15, 2024.

Instructions and Schedule for Acquiring Medical Certificates

One of the requirements for your internship is a MEDICAL CLEARANCE indicating that you are fit to work.

The tests that you need to acquire before going to the BU Health Services are the following:

  1. Chest x-ray PA view
  2. Urinalysis
  3. CBC platelet with bloodtyping
  4. Photocopy of COVID-19 vaccination card/certificate

Once you have acquired these, please go to the BU Health Services on these dates:

Journalism 4A: January 26, 2024, 8 to 11 a.m.
Journalism 4B: January 26, 2024, 1 to 4 p.m.

Please ignore the first instructions given to you that you have to go to RHUs before going to the BUHS. This is only required if you have comorbidities. In your case, please acquire an additional certificate from the nearest RHU or from your attending physician. The certificate should indicate that you are “fit to work.”
